There aren’t a lot of cheats in Dead Space 2, but the game does have enough to make it worth your while.  While there’s nowhere in the game to enter actual Dead Space 2 cheat codes, there are some unlocks and tricks that one could consider “cheats”.  We’ve compiled a list of these below for your enjoyment, have at it.

Free Credits: Melee an ATM machine to make credits come out of it.

Health Restore: When you get a new suit, save it.  Putting on a new suit for the first time restores your health to full, so don’t use it until you’re low on health.

Teddy Bear Cash: In chapter 3, after the spaz out in the girl’s room, there are 1500 credits beneath the Teddy Bear in the closet.

Gun, Suit, and Item Locations

Contact Beam: The contact beam is in the closet to the left of the power node near the first save point in Chapter 7.

Detonator: In Chapter 5, go to the room at the top of the church.  You can’t miss it.

Force Gun: In Chapter 7, turn left after you get off the elevator and look in the 2nd yellow locker.

Hand Cannon: Simply beat the game on Hardcore difficulty to unlock this gun.  After you do, it will be available for purchase in the shops in your next game.

Pulse Rifle: This gun is hidden behind the train in chapter 3, just after getting off the train.

Pulse Rounds and Flamethrower: After Ellie opens the gate for you in chapter 6, don’t go in and instead go just to the right of the gate to get the Pulse Rounds.  Later, as you’re leaving the gym, you can find the Flamethrower in the room with the crazy kids.

Seeker Shells: In chapter 9, after you battle with the stalkers you can find the seeker shells near the exit to the room behind the guardian.

One of the biggest changes to the game is the atmosphere.  In Dead Space 1 it always felt like you were trapped in a maze of endless metal corridors with no character.  The Sprawl, Dead Space 2′s setting, is covered with shops and apartments and things that make the atmosphere feel so real, and so eerie now that they’re abandoned.

Even the Dead Space 2 online multiplayer got decent reviews, much to the surprise of many Dead Space 1 fanboys.

Releasing the demo a whole month prior to the game’s release is risky, but Visceral games is confident that the gameplay will speak for itself and players will be so engrossed by the demo that they’ll pick up the full game.

Dead Space Ignition is a choose your own adventure style comic game.  If you do not pre-order Dead Space 2, it is available as a standalone purchase on Xbox Live, PSN, or the PC for $5.

Dead Space Ignition bridges the gap between Dead Space 1 and Dead Space 2, and unfolds the events leading up to the beginning of Dead Space 2.  As a cool bonus, the game will also feature multiple alternate endings, ensuring that the choices you make do in fact have an effect on the outcome.  And as yet another bonus, playing through Dead Space Ignition unlocks the Hacker suit for Dead Space 2.

Dead Space Ignition is available now.  If you pre-order Dead Space 2, you simply get a download code to download Ignition on the platform of your choosing.  It’s a single use code, so borrowing a friend’s won’t work.  You’ll both have to preorder.

Along with the plasma cutter you’ll get an in-game Unitology Suit, in-game Force Gun, and also some concept art and the soundtrack cd.  If you buy the PS3 version, you’ll also get a copy of Dead Space Extraction that works with the PS Move.

The game’s multiplayer will feature 4v4 objective based combat, with the humans taking on the Necromorphs.  Papoutsis says that in addition to allowing players to play the game together, both together and against each other, multiplayer also gives them a chance to experience the battle from the other side as a Necromorph.

Papoutsis stressed that multiplayer has been something that has been actively worked on since the beginning of the game, and is not just a quick cash-in added late in the development cycle.  He also assures Dead Space fans that the addition of multiplayer will not negatively affect the single player game in any way, as a separate part of the team will be working on it exclusively, and begs fans to give it a chance before writing it off without trying it.

The game will feature only competitive multiplayer, and will not feature a co-op campaign or any horde type mode.  While a horde type mode may seem like a good fit for Dead Space 2 online multiplayer, you know, with all the monsters and everything, Papoutsis says that the main focus of multiplayer was giving people a chance to play as the Necromorphs.
